Solar PV (Photovoltaic)
- Electricity is created by your Solar PV system using the energy from the sun.
- The electricity travels to your inverter which converts the DC power generated by your Solar PV panels into AC power which can then be used to power your household.
- Once inverted the electricity passes through to your generator, which will show how much electricity you are generating and then is transferred to your mains consumer unit (fuse-board).
- Once the electricity starts transferring through your mains consumer unit it will be used to power the electrical appliances around your home.
- You are using your self generated electricity and as such you don’t have to import so much electricity from the main grid.
- Your electricity meter continues to monitor your incoming supply.
- The surplus electricity is then exported back to the grid where your supplier pays you an export tariff for each unit of electricity you have not used.
