Solar PV (Photovoltaic)

How do solar panels work
  1. Electricity is created by your Solar PV system using the energy from the sun.
  2. The electricity travels to your inverter which converts the DC power generated by your Solar PV panels into AC power which can then be used to power your household.
  3. Once inverted the electricity passes through to your generator, which will show how much electricity you are generating and then is transferred to your mains consumer unit (fuse-board).
  4. Once the electricity starts transferring through your mains consumer unit it will be used to power the electrical appliances around your home.
  5. You are using your self generated electricity and as such you don’t have to import so much electricity from the main grid.
  6. Your electricity meter continues to monitor your incoming supply.
  7. The surplus electricity is then exported back to the grid where your supplier pays you an export tariff for each unit of electricity you have not used.
